ATO is excited to announce the signing of Benjamin Booker, a young New Orleans based singer-songwriter. Described as “a well-mixed musical cocktail of punk, folk, and New Orleans blues”, Booker cites his influences as The Gun Club, Blind Willie Johnson, and T. Rex.
Disconnect is the long awaited new studio album from John Wesley. It features 10 songs, including a guest performance by Alex Lifeson of Rush on ‘Once a Warrior’ as well as a mix by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree on the song ‘Window.’ The album was produced by Dean Tidey and John Wesley and mixed by Steven Orchard. Disconnect is a new collection of John Wesley’s guitar-driven acoustic and electric songs straddling the alternative, progressive, art, and classic rock genres, and graced by Wesley’s poignant lyrics drawn from the poetry of the everyday. Alex Lifeson (Rush) contributes a typically unique solo to Once A Warrior.
Everyone has several artists they keep close to the vest and consistently root for them when it seems that nobody else cares. One of those artists for me is Patrick Park. With song structures like Ryan Adams and a voice like Elliott Smith he has been releasing consistently good records since his 2003 major label full length debut Loneliness Knows My Name. I still consider “Your Smile’s A Drug” off that album a favorite. Hell, even his 2007 track, “Life Is a Song” was used as the final song in the series finale of The OC so it is still hard for me to believe Patrick Park is not a better known name.
