Woman”, “Love Her Madly” and “Riders On The Storm”- is being celebrated with a special two-CD release from Rhino. The L.A. Woman 40th anniversary edition features a never-before-heard song, “She Smells So Nice,” which captures the band- organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, drummer John Densmore and late singer Jim Morrison- joyfully barreling through a full-throttle original before segueing into the blues standard “Rock Me”.

This special edition brings unrealized and various other versions of one of the best albums of legendary band. Sticky Fingers is the ninth British and eleventh American studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones, released in April 1971. It is the band’s first album of the 1970s and its first release on the band’s newly formed label, Rolling Stones Records, after having been contracted since 1963 with Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the US. It is also Mick Taylor’s first full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album, and the first not to feature any contributions from founding guitarist Brian Jones. In 2003, Sticky Fingers was listed as number 63 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album features the first usage of the band’s “tongue & lips” logo, which was originally designed by Ernie Cefalu.

This is reissue, the strange and epic debut solo outing by Grace Slick (of the Jefferson Airplane) – Manhole. This was Slick’s first solo album credited solely to her (she had previously recorded Sunfighter with Paul Kantner and Baron von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun with Kantner and David Freiberg, both of whom co-produced Manhole). The album was recorded in 1973, when Jefferson Airplane had stopped touring, and Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady were making the Hot Tuna album, The Phosphorescent Rat. All the members who would form Jefferson Starship in 1974 performed on this album, except for Papa John Creach.

The new record starts with some casual cursing yet the last word is ‘love’. It began when singer-songwriter-guitarist-mastermind Kurt Wagner turned away from music and picked up his brushes to paint his way out of a funk that followed the premature death of friend Vic Chesnutt, who the band backed on 1998’s The Salesman and Bernadette. And though the sprawling multi-headed quiet juggernaut that is Lambchop most often treasure performance over artifice, their eleventh album is very much a studio creation.MR. M started in a painter’s studio in fact. The resulting album was recorded at Nevers’s Nashville Beech House studio.

After a highly successful 2011 The Ragbirds are kicking off a new year with viagra release of their 4th studio effort, Travelin’ Machine on January 1st, 2012. In this exciting new album the band has seamlessly blended a wide palette of musical genres into a fresh and cohesive 10-track package that is full of life and energy. The five-piece project is clearly built around the multi-talented Zindle, who is not only the singer and songwriter but is proficient in a range of stringed instruments. This classically trained violinist can aptly pluck the eight-stringed mandolin, wield a wild accordion and rock the banjo while maintaining lead vocals. Surrounding Zindle’s earthy-sweet voice is the whirlwind of a guitarist T.J. Zindle, dynamic bassist Brian Crist, drummer Loren Kranz and standout percussionist Randall Moore.

Kathleen Edwards’ ‘Voyageur’ is the acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter’s fourth album, and her first since ‘Asking for Flowers’ (2008). Produced by Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) and Edwards, ‘Voyageur’ is less of a departure than it is a journey, and like any transforming trip, it demands that we let go of any preconceptions about the destination. ‘Voyageur’ evokes a spectrum of overwhelming feelings within the atmosphere of a lucid dream. Edwards’ characters speak to the grief, loneliness, shock, and confusion that come with endings as well as the hope and irrepressible joy that accompany new beginnings, but the stories are told with a seductively quiet strength. Aided by the musical support of fellow travelers Justin Vernon and Norah Jones, ‘Voyageur’ features standout tracks such as “Change the Sheets,” “Mint,” and “A Soft Place to Land.”

Audra Mae and her band The Almighty Sound will be releasing their self-titled album on February 14th, 2012. The 11-track album is quite a departure from her darker, more dramatic release The Happiest Lamb.  Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound is a celebration of her own blossoming as a performer, the perfect storm of all her influences, spiked with the energy of a group who honed their chops in a live setting. The album was co-produced by country star Deana Carter, whose debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This? sold 5 million in the U.S., and has had three #1 country singles. The album, which was recorded live, including vocals, in one week at Hollywood Sound, genuinely captures the band’s electric performances.

Maestro Terry Riley returns to the transcendent brilliance of his mprovisatory All Night Flights from the 1970s in this spectacular two-hour solo performance for just intonation keyboard. Originally created for the Aleph-Bet Sound Project that John Zorn organized for the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, the music has been sitting in Terry’s archives for years and now finally sees the light of day in all its glorious entirety. Recorded at Terry’s private studio at Moonshine Ranch at Midnight, the music captures a magically mystical vibe, timeless, meditative and entrancing. A modern classic from the godfather of minimalism who continues to surprise and challenge us with each new release.

Languid soul star Norah Jones is easily the most famous fifth of the Little Willies – a low-key, but high-quality country covers band now on their second album. Those more accustomed to Jones’s dulcet mode should hear her exhale through the Willies’ atmospheric version of “Jolene” – this enjoyable album’s closer – or vamping it up behind guitarist Richard Julian on a succinct rollick through trucker classic “Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves”. Stellar side projects often run the risk of sounding smug, but over these 12 varied selections, the Little Willies put the American songbook first.

The Grammy nominated singer-songwriter from Nashville calls “Hello Cruel World” her “most close-to-the-bone work, written at a time when I felt absolutely fearless about telling the truth.”The title is a pun on the famed exit line – a joke that, like the lovely melodies and deliciously textured arrangements framing these 11 songs – sweetens this captivating music spun from a year of turmoil.Peters is of course joined by a cast of top musicians including Will Kimbrough, Vicktor Krauss, Barry Walsh and a guesting Rodney Crowell.

Brent Cash’s widely celebrated debut album “How Will I Know If I’m Awake” was released more than three years ago. The multi-instrumentalist from Athens, Ga took a long break to create an even more elaborately crafted follow-up. “How Strange It Seems” is chock-full of sophisticated arrangements, multi-layered vocal harmonies, extravagant key changes and intricate rhythms. From the start, Cash decided to record his songs like “they did it back then,” so no costs were spared to hire the best players in town and assemble a mini-orchestra featuring almost 30 musicians. The resulting work sounds like a lost pop masterpiece from the ’60s and ’70s. It perfectly sets the mood and is extremely rich in detail, scope and color.

Space folk drone, a blend of buzzing lo-fi murk, and Folkways style folk guitar. Fahey meets Uton, or James Blackshaw recording with Starving Weirdos, a stumbling buzz infused sprawl as spacious as it is clattery and chaotic. Beneath the drone and ambience there is always a blues element to Ignatz…
